The Federal Reserve’s Interest Rate is Increasing… for Lael Brainard

Animals,

Let me be clear about something: I do not actually know anything about the Federal Reserve. As far as I am concerned, the Fed is just some random bank in Washington, D.C., where tiny goblins who are in a government union run money printers 24/7. That’s it.

But lately, the Fed has become a topic of huge interest for policy nerds, Wall Street investors, and political gamblers. So it’s time we did a podcast to help you bet on its moves wisely.

The issue at hand:

Fed Chairman Jerome Powell is about to reach the end of his 4-year term, so President Biden needs to either re-nominate him for another term or find someone else for the job.

The rumors about when or if Biden will re-nominate Powell are causing serious swings in betting markets and fortunes are being made and lost pretty regularly. The price on Powell’s shares swung 20c on Monday alone. Contracts for his main rival, Lael Brainard, nearly doubled at the same time.

Who Will the Senate Confirm to be the Next Chairman of the Fed?

With this much money being lit on fire, you obviously need a podcast with the Boys to keep your money on the right side of the trade; and/or to understand how things will actually shake out at the Federal Reserve.
