Why This Time is Different for Boris Johnson
London Correspondent William Kedjanyi joins from Westminster to update us live on why Boris Johnson’s latest political peril is by far his worse. The odds have moved against them — have they also moved against you?
Time to buy, sell, or run away? The answer to that only requires a quick 2-minute study, courtesy of SSG’s London Bureau:
“What the hell has happened?” William asks and answers.
“We’ve had nine resignations from government today; most important, two cabinet ministers.”
Headlining the list: Rishi Sunak, the Chancellor of the Exchequer (Treasurer); and Sajid David, the Health Secretary.
“They had no confidence in his leadership anymore,” William told us. “To lose a Chancellor at any point is really big news, to lose two cabinet members on the same evening is massive.”
Neither bettors nor Tory Party members seem to think Johnson’s government can last much longer.
“He’s 3-to-1 to make it next year.”
Yikes, BoJo!
