We’ve been ignoring the elephant in the room, which is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. There is simply no doubting the fact that he already rivals Trump’s power within the Republican Party, and is capable of not only succeeding Trump, but potentially knocking him off in the 2024 primaries.
As guest Curt Mills tells SSG, “DeSantis has really established a very interesting counter-model in Florida” to Democratic-dominated states like New York and California. And that DeSantis’s successes in contests against Disney and COVID mandates will doubtless be “very charismatic” to Republican voters and donors in 2024.
Is DeSantis the real thing? Or is he a flash-in-the-pan governor who will stay out of the race in 2024 and recede back into history?
